Terms & Conditions

Indoor Leagues

1. Entries are accepted only with full payment of the entry fee.

2. Social Sport leagues are mixed sex. Futsal and basketball requires one person from each sex to be on court during games. Netball has a maximum of three males and a minimum of one male, on-court during games. Only one male in each playing position (D/C/A).

3. Appropriate non-marking footwear must be worn at all times. Any sharp adornments or jewellery must be removed before playing, and fingernails must be kept short.

4. UniRec Youth Policy: Children 8-13 years must be supervised by an adult while in the UniRec Sports Hall. Children aged 7 and under must be in the Sports Hall child safety area behind net during Social Sport and directly supervised by an adult (see conditions and regulations posted on the wall of the Sports Hall).

5. All players must be 14 years and older.

6. These are social leagues with no major prizes for winning.

7. Teams that default more than one game may be withdrawn from the league at the coordinators discretion with no refund of entry fee.

8. Social Sport maintains a zero tolerance for verbal or physical abuse towards other players, staff or spectators. A written warning will be issued to teams that breach this policy, and will be removed from the league should the behaviour continue.

9. Teams entering these leagues must abide by the rules and regulations of UniRec, Social Sport and the University of Waikato. Rules for each league and sport are available online; www.socialsport.co.nz. Teams not abiding by these rules may be disqualified.

10. Application for a full refund of fees must be made in writing at least 7 days prior to the starting date of the league. An administration fee of $20.00 will be deducted. Refunds after this will be at the coordinators discretion. In the case of the University of Waikato cancelling the league, a full refund will be given.

11. Social Sport prides itself on ensuring all teams, spectators and staff are safe while participating in the leagues. However, the nature of our leagues means there are health and injury risks. Teams and their players understand this risk, and remove all liability from the University of Waikato and its staff should an incident occur while participating in the league.

12. Entry into these leagues requires some personal information to be provided by a contact person. These details will be kept private, as per the University of Waikato privacy policy.

13. By entering these leagues, you and your team members consent to have your image and/or likeness used in promotional materials for Social Sport and/or the University of Waikato.


 

Outdoor Leagues

 

1. Entries are accepted only with full payment of the entry fee.

 

2. Social Sport Leagues are mixed sex (except for Wednesday football). Touch requires at least 2 people of each sex to be on the field during games. Tuesday Football requires at least 1 person of each sex to be on the field during games.

 

3. Players must be 14 years and over.

 

4. All players must be wearing appropriate sporting footwear during play. Players will be asked to leave the field should they not have appropriate footwear. Football teams are highly encouraged to wear shin pads.

 

5. All players must remove any loose jewellery before playing, and keep fingernails short at all times.

 

6. These are social leagues and there are no major prizes for winning.

 

7. Teams that default more than two games may be removed from the league at the coordinators discretion with no refund of entry fee.

Refunds after this will be at the coordinators discretion. In the case of University of Waikato cancelling the league a full refund will be given.

 

11. Each league is of a 14 game duration, with four weeks set aside for weather/event related postponements. If cancellations/postponements exceed these four weeks, the rounds may be cancelled. No refunds will be given if the league does not meet the expected 14 games.

 

12. Social Sport prides itself on ensuring all teams, spectators and staff are safe while participating in the leagues. However, the nature of our leagues means there are health and injury risks. Teams and their players understand this risk, and remove all liability from the University of Waikato and its staff should an incident occur while participating in the league. Players and spectators also agree for staff to provide medical assistance if it is deemed to be in the best interest of the affected parties.
